Before becoming Dean, Dr. Bousquet co-founded the Capstone Professional French Master's Program, a professional degree track for students who want to use their French in careers outside of the academy. Through the construction of a public-private partnership, Dr. Bousquet was also instrumental in the establishment in 2001 of the Center for Interdisciplinary French Studies at the UW-Madison, one of fewer than twenty such centers nationwide to enjoy the support and recognition of the French government.
Dr. Bousquet has taught graduate and undergraduate classes in language, culture, business and literature in the Department of French and Italian. His teaching and research interests range from 19th century French literature and culture to contemporary social and intellectual history, subjects on which he has written extensively in American and European publications. In addition, he is keenly interested in technology transfer, high-tech business and biotechnology, and has long been an advocate and facilitator of international cooperation in business, science and technology as well as the arts and humanities.
In recognition of his many contributions to the field of contemporary French cultural and linguistic studies, and the advancement of international collaboration for education and research, the French government awarded Dr. Bousquet the Ordre National du Mérite with the rank of Chevalier, and the Palmes Académiques in acknowledgement of distinguished service to higher education.
