When Virasakdi Futrakul, the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the United States of America, visited the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus in July 2006, it was no surprise that scores of faculty, staff and students turned out to greet him.
